What are the available types of challenges?
Learn More about the different types of challenges.
There are 4 different main types of challenges that Wellics™ can support through the predefined challenge templates. Each type has different modes (for win and score calculation) that make the challenge objective even more detailed.
Here's a quick guide to each type to help you decide which challenge template to choose.
Leaderboard
A competition classic! The Leaderboard type ranks challenge participants or teams from high to low based on the challenge metric. There is no specific target to reach, the more the merrier. The participant or team with the highest score at the end of the challenge will reach the top of the leaderboard!
Available win modes
Top: The participants or teams that reach top positions on the leaderboard are candidate challenge winners. As an admin you will need to define the number of winners this challenge will have (see here how to do this). We suggest up to 5% of employees headcount. The challenge trophy is awarded to the winners after the grace period ends.
Available score calculation modes
Sum: The challenge score is calculated based on the total daily metric values of the participant (or team).
Avg: The challenge score is calculated based on the average of metric values (throughout the challenge duration) of the participant (or team). In team challenges, averages can be used instead of totals to account for teams of various sizes. First, we add up every team member's total activity. Then, we add everyone's totals together for a large, team activity sum. Then, we divide this number by the total number of team members.
Longer Streak
Trigger your team to build healthier habits with a constantly winning streak! In this type of challenge, participants track the number of consecutive days they have successfully achieved the challenge's daily goal. By meeting their daily goal day after day, their streak count will progressively increase. In Longer Streak challenges, the daily goal is designed to be achievable for an extended period without any missed days. Wellics™ has carefully selected this daily goal value, but as an admin, you have the flexibility to customize it to better meet the needs and preferences of your participants.
Available win modes
Top: There is no specific streak size set as a challenge target to reach. The participants or teams with the longer streaks are candidate challenge winners. As an admin you will need to define the number of winners this challenge will have (see here how to do this). We suggest up to 5% of employees headcount. The challenge trophy is awarded to the winners after the grace period ends.
All: There is a specific streak size set as a challenge target to reach. All participants or teams that reach this target are challenge winners. As an admin, you may change the predefined number of consecutive days the challenge participants will aim to meet their daily goal (see here how to do this). Please ensure that the challenge duration is sufficient for participants to reach the specified number. The challenge trophy is awarded to the winners upon hitting the challenge target.
Available score calculation modes (only for team challenges)
Sum: A successful day to count in the team's streak is when the total of daily metric values of team members equals the daily goal. This mode is for collective goals within a team that encourages participants to work together to win.
Avg: A successful day to count in the team's streak is when the average of the team's daily metric values equals the daily goal. This mode is for collective goals within a team that encourages participants to work together to win. Averages can be used instead of totals to account for teams of various sizes. First, we add up every team member's daily activity. Then, we divide this number by the total number of team members.
Self Performance: A successful day to count in the team's streak is when all team members have achieved daily goals. This mode is for individual goals within a team that encourages participants to have a consistently good performance to win.
Stick to It
Stick to It allows participants to ease into a healthy habit. In Stick to It challenges, participants will aim to reach the same daily goal a number of days during the challenge. While it is important to strive for a total number of achievements, it is also acceptable if participants happen to miss a few days along the way.
The daily goal in Stick to It challenges can be a bit more challenging than in a Longer Streak challenge because participants can miss a few days and still reach the goal. Wellics™ has carefully selected this daily goal value, but as an admin, you have the flexibility to customize it to better meet the needs and preferences of your participants (see here how to do this).

Target
Participants need to achieve a set individual or collective goal over the course of the challenge. In Target challenges, the goal should be something participants can work towards over the length of the challenge, not a goal they'll reach daily. Wellics™ has carefully selected this total goal value, but as an admin, you have the flexibility to customize it to better meet the needs and preferences of your participants (see here how to do this).
